Why go to an open day?
When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.
Where is it located?
The campus is in the centre of Huddersfield and is easily reached by train, bus or car. It's a 10-minute walk from the main train station and there is a free town bus that stops at the bus and train stations and the university.
Huddersfield is a budget friendly choice for students. It offers a lower cost of living and is also considered one of the friendliest towns in the UK.
Huddersfield has around 20,000 students which means there are loads of things to do from clubs, bars and live music to theatre and festivals.
Huddersfield also has a proud rugby and football heritage. Rugby League was born in Huddersfield in 1895 and the John Smith's stadium is also home to Huddersfield Town AFC.
Huddersfield is under an hour away by train from Leeds and Manchester if you fancy a change of scene.
