There are also many clubs and societies to join – from sports clubs to academic interest, hobbies to political and religious societies. Whatever your interest, the University of Sheffield is keen to help you develop and reach your full potential.

The university’s Careers Service offers tailored careers and employability support to students and graduates. There are degrees with a year’s work experience built in, as well as support to find shorter placements, vacation work, and part-time jobs. You could study or work abroad, do international research, attend a summer school at one of Sheffield’s partner universities, or learn a language. The university offers a range of scholarships for many of its global activities. Undergraduate students can get help to consider postgraduate study to carry on a subject you love – or change direction. Postgraduate students interested in a PhD can also get help to find and apply for opportunities.

University of Sheffield accommodation includes a mix of rooms with shared kitchens and studios with their own kitchen area. You could live in purpose-built modern halls or shared student houses or even choose catered accommodation. Several adapted rooms are available for disabled students. The university is able to offer options for those who want a quieter place to live, dedicated accommodation for LGBT+ students, and single-sex flats. There is also dedicated accommodation for postgraduate students.
