Cambridge, Chelmsford, and Writtle offer accommodation on campus. Most of these student halls offer en-suite bedrooms with shared kitchens and communal areas. They have the essentials for a student, including a desk, chair, and shelves, as well as a bed and wardrobe. Some student halls offer shared bathrooms or the option of a studio flat 鈥� but there is accommodation to suit all lifestyles and budgets. Some rooms in Cambridge, Chelmsford, and Writtle are adapted for students with disabilities. Students in Peterborough can apply to live in nearby flats or houses with the help of the Residential Services. These properties can be within walking distance of the campus.
ARU offers support and bursaries for UK and international students undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate studies. For example, in 2025 the ARU Bursary offers up to 拢300 per year to eligible students with a household income of 拢42,875 or less. The Merit Scholarship offers 拢1,000 to eligible students who achieve BBB or above at A Level. ARU encourages its students to get the most out of their studies and their experience. From the moment they join, students are part of an inclusive, friendly community who will support and champion their success. During their first week, students will experience Welcome Week. They can meet other students on their course, get involved in activities, and have some fun to help settle into university life. From that week forward, students can expect a wide range of activities. From SU events and day trips to society-run events and regular dog therapy sessions on campus. Even seasonal activities like petting a reindeer at Christmas time! There's plenty to get involved with at ARU.
