Open days at University of Sussex

Sussex is a major research-intensive uni, with a high proportion of its research recognised as world-leading or internationally excellent.

With academics and students from more than 150 countries, Sussex has an international community and prides itself on a welcoming and safe environment.

The University of Sussex offers over 200 undergraduate courses spanning more than 50 subject areas. Their American studies programmes and childhood and youth studies both ranked in our top ten subject league tables.

Facilities

The University of Sussex has a new multimillion pound Student Centre on campus with support and information services, social spaces, and new catering and retail outlets.

There are cafés, restaurants, bars, a supermarket, and a weekly food market. Sussex's library is open 24 hours and has individual study rooms and spaces and a bookable large study room for group work.

The campus also has a high-spec contemporary theatre with a busy cultural programme.

Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

The university is one campus found in Falmer in Brighton. It's easy to get to as Falmer train station is directly opposite the site and a regular bus service runs to and from Brighton.

An arty coastal city, Brighton is known for its inclusivity, quirky character, nightlife and beaches. It's also famous for a labyrinth of independent shopping and eating places called The Lanes.

Only an hour away from London by train and half an hour from London Gatwick Airport, you'll have plenty to do locally or further afield.
