Course summary
MSc Clinical Periodontology programme is for dentists looking to introduce advanced periodontal treatment within their practice. Youll get clinical training, which means youll be equipped to provide safe and appropriate periodontal treatment.
This course has evolved from our successful three-year MSc Periodontology programme, and incorporates changes based on student feedback.
If youre a busy general dental practitioner, you can combine part-time study with work.
Course highlights:
Thorough case assessment and record taking
Risk factors and their management
Appropriate treatment planning
Non-surgical management of periodontal disease
Flap design and suturing
Surgical procedures including crown lengthening
Use of antibiotics as an adjunct to mechanical therapy
Management of Peri-implantitis

Youll get 20 days of supervised clinical training, delivered by experienced clinicians and educators.
Much of the academic teaching is delivered through a modern, online delivery model.
Youll graduate with an MSc Periodontology from a UK university thats well known as a provider of high quality clinical training and education. This course is only available to UK students.
Academic teaching is a blend of online lectures, seminars and study from home, as well as lab training on simulators to improve practical skills. Clinical training is one-to-one, starting from full case assessment and treatment planning to contemporary techniques for NSPT, surgical management, and soft tissue manipulation around teeth and implants in the modern and full technology-equipped UCLan Dental clinic.
