Course summary
This course will train students to identify, plan, restore and maintain implants in straightforward cases. It introduces state-of-the-art digital guided surgery students will be able to provide a straightforward level of clinical restorative implant dentistry in their practice. The course is delivered via a blended-learning approach and is open to overseas students. UK students who wish to only undertake the PG Cert should apply for the MSc and exit after the first year.

On successful completion of this programme student will able to:
- Identify patients suited for implant treatment.
- Plan implant treatment in straightforward single unit cases
- Describe and perform the surgical steps involved in the guided placement of a dental implant
- Restore single unit implant supported restorations
- Maintain single unit implant restorations.
Who this course is for
The programme is ideal for Dental Practitioners wishing to develop their practice in Implant Dentistry in order to improve job satisfaction and to be able to offer patients a higher level of implant care.
This programme is open to UK and overseas students and idealy suited for dentists with lttle or no experience in Implant dentistry.
What this course will give you
The programme is offered as a blended programme and ideally suited for the busy practitioner and the overseas dentist. Attendance is limited to two one-week blocks in October and January interdispersed with remote learning for rest of the year. Material is delivered through lectures in a seminar setting, hands-on work shops training in lab and clinic in small groups, interactive case studies, treatment planning exercises, and video patient demonstrations. The programme is taught by experienced specialist dentists on the institute's staff and complemented by respected visiting clinicians and teachers. Students benefit from state of the art facilities and access to a wide range of clinical cases and techniques.
The foundation of your career
The aim of the programme is to enable dentists to bring implant dentistry into their everyday practice with particular emphasis on restoring implant supported restorations.
Graduates of the programme will be equipped with the skills necessary for dental implant case selection and planning, and restoration of straightforward implant cases. This is the foundation of implant treatment in general dental practice. The programme is designed for students to embark on implant treatment in their own practices during the course of the programme
Employability
The programme will provide the skills to be able to restore implant supported restorations. They will have the skills and knowledge to be able to work closely with an implant surgeon for joint implant planning and treatment of implant patients. This will inevitably bring increased opportunities for working in private dental practice. The 60 credits gained will allow opportunities to continuing further study in the field of dentistry.
