As a professional paramedic, no two days are the same. You’ll constantly be on the move and working in different locations, treating all different kinds of patients. It’s a challenging role and should not be taken lightly, but it can be incredibly rewarding and exciting.

2. Good graduate prospects

Paramedics are always in demand. This is reflected in the subject area’s graduate prospects – almost all Paramedic Science students find professional employment or continue their studies within six months of graduating.

3. Plenty of practical experiences

Courses are held in modern simulation facilities, and you’ll also learn through placements and work experiences. This could be with healthcare providers and ambulance crews. You'll get to experience various healthcare contexts, so you’re well prepared for your career.

4. Job options

A degree in Paramedic Science doesn’t only mean a career in an ambulance. You could work in a GP surgery, the military or forensics, for example. Many paramedics choose to pursue different areas of healthcare and become doctors, nurses, care workers, midwives or surgeons.

There are lots of jobs for paramedics both in the UK and overseas. This opens up work experience opportunities through international placements, giving you the chance to practice in various environments. Some degrees include study abroad placements as part of the course, where you spend time in a different country and see how paramedics operate there.
