Minimal time in a Fashion course is spent being taught in a classroom. You'll have a lot of permitted creative freedom, where you'll work independently on your creations for anything from costume to sportswear.

Degree courses often include the opportunity to spend time working in an industry placement where you’ll gain an understanding of the professional world.

You may get to spend a year studying at an overseas university, where you experience Fashion first-hand in a different environment. A year abroad could also mean practising a second language – which is a desirable skill to have in this industry.

As well as specific design techniques, you'll improve your transferable skills such as communication, presentation, marketing and PR. These can be very useful if you decide to go down a different career route after graduating.
