Who comes out on top in Yorkshire and Humber?
While there鈥檚 no change in the top four positions, with University of York keeping its crown, it鈥檚 a different story elsewhere in the table for 2025.
On the up are Huddersfield in fifth and Hull sixth, gaining one position since last year. York St John zooms from tenth to eighth.
On the slide are Leeds Beckett down two places to seventh while Leeds Arts University drops two places to tenth.

Studying in Yorkshire & the Humber
There鈥檚 a lot more to this region than Yorkshire tea and Yorkshire pudding. The largest county in the UK, it also claims to have the highest number of Michelin star restaurants outside of London. If fancy food is not your thing, the Yorkshire Dales and Moors offer miles of unspoilt countryside and there鈥檚 plenty of things to see and do in the many historic towns and cities.

University cities and towns in Yorkshire & the Humber
Leeds is a vibrant multicultural city and a real student hub, known for its many shopping arcades, great nightlife, and live music scene. Close by is the smaller city of Bradford, equally diverse and the holder of the City of Culture title for 2025. A couple of interesting villages close by include Haworth, home to the Bronte sisters and Saltaire, a UNESCO world heritage site with a David Hockney connection.
York offers all the things you鈥檇 expect in a modern city but with an historic setting. Think cobbled streets, crooked timber buildings, and a Roman city wall built to keep out the Vikings.
