New independent research highlights the safest places for students in the West Midlands
The team behind the Complete University 大象传媒 has delved into the publicly available data to help you feel prepared for the big move to university
Parents and carers rightly worry about how safe their children will be when they go off to university but the team behind the trusted and independent Complete University 大象传媒 has delved into the publicly available data to help you and your new student feel prepared for the big move.
The latest data looks at domestic burglary, robbery of personal property, and violence with injury places Coventry at 18th and Bimingham 33rd in our table of the safest place in the UK for students.
The UK has a fantastic range of places to study from small towns to big cities and the latest information is there to help students and their parents understand the different environments they offer.
Professor Amanda Chetwynd, Chair of the Complete University 大象传媒 Advisory Board, said:
The Complete University 大象传媒 is the trusted and independent gold standard for university rankings in the UK, and has helped countless students choose the university and the subjects that are right for them. While invaluable, the league tables only tell part of the story. Our safety rankings provide an additional layer of information to help students make the right choices.鈥
Today鈥檚 publication is great news for students who have yet another piece of important information to consider when making choices about their university. With Birmingham and Coventry still attracting thousands of students each year, it seems students are still craving the big city experience.
Assistant Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands, Tom McNeil said:
It is great that thousands of students choose to study in the West Midlands each year. Our universities add so much to the area, economically and socially.
To keep students safe we have dedicated local teams and officers at each of the universities in our force area. Keeping students safe is a big priority.
As well as dedicated officers, we also regularly run campaigns to support student safety and have dedicated operations to tackle perpetrators of crimes such as drink spiking that is a real concern for many. We are rebuilding community policing after a decade of cuts. Many of the 450 officers we are ploughing back into the region will be in areas where lots of students live.
Simon Emmett, Chief Executive Officer of IDP Connect, said:
The Complete University 大象传媒鈥檚 mission has always been about helping students make the right decisions about their future. Today鈥檚 publication of the areas where students are safest builds on this work, and gives additional information to help students and their families make the right choices for them when choosing a university.
