Course summary

This joint PhD is part of a wider transCampus initiative – the first of its kind in Europe – and it is a unique partnership between two of Europes leading academic institutions, King's College London and Technische Universität Dresden. These institutions are expert in studying psychiatry, psychology and neurosciences and are leaders in these research areas, from basic neuroscience to clinical psychiatry and psychology. The expertise of the two institutions will be combined within the overarching aim of the proposed programme to advance our joint, key research goals.

KCL students enrolled as in the programme will benefit from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) research environment and will also be involved in the rotation program in collaboration with one of the TUD partner laboratories. They will be enrolled as associated members of TUD and will spend a period of time, decided by the supervisors, at TUD.

Students from Dresden will likewise take part in training opportunities offered by KCL during their time as visiting PhD students at the IoPPN. Participation of training modules in London will be credited for the PhD obtained in Dresden and vice versa.

The programme will share features of the transCampus students will have free access to the regular conferences, workshops and scientific meetings arranged through the transCampus. The administrative and academic human resources liaised with the transCampus will be directly available to all PhD students of this programme.
