Completing your degree with an overall pass mark of 50% and the empirical psychology project, you become automatically eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

What happens on the course?
Our Foundation Year programme has been designed to prepare you for studying at undergraduate level, become familiar with university life, and feel at home on campus. You will learn the required skills and knowledge to progress smoothly from the foundation year into the first year of your chosen psychology degree route. Your supportive team will work closely with you and your fellow students, guiding you to build valuable skills and succeed.
Your foundation year will focus on collaborative work with your fellow students, challenging and debating ideas, and expressing yourself with greater confidence. Following this, you will enter in-depth study of the core areas in psychology, remaining mindful of the historical and scientific underpinnings of the subject. These critical thinking skills will be further practised in your third year, learning to apply your theory to real-world case studies. You will learn quantitative and qualitative research methods, developing transferrable skills for your choice of specialist area. In your final year, you will produce an original empirical research project in order to complete your degree. Academic researchers who share your passion for your chosen topic will aid you at every step of the way, helping to ensure that you graduate with specialised knowledge and a range of skills transferrable to any employment role.
