Course summary

Overview

Prepare to excel in business on a global stage by combining language studies with a management course. Youll become fluent in your chosen language, and in the societies and cultures where that language is spoken. Youll also develop your understanding of global business, marketing, and intercultural communication. Youll study French, Spanish or Japanese to degree level, as well as choosing from a range of specialist modules in business, marketing, management and intercultural communication. You can also take another language, such as Arabic, BSL, Chinese or German, subject to availability. Combining management studies with a modern language degree opens up a wealth of opportunities in sectors with global interests and multilingual and multicultural workforces. You can take another language as part of your degree or as a non-credit module with certification. Subject to availability, you can choose from Arabic, British Sign Language, Chinese French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Russian and Advanced English. Our language lab provides access to cutting-edge translation and interpreting technologies, and we offer a huge range of activities for you to get involved in! Recent examples include our Love Languages Day, Japanese cultural events and LCS Cine Club. In your third year, you'll enhance your experience of your chosen language and culture by living in a country where your degree language is spoken. You can study at university (all languages) or work on a teaching assistantship or placement (French and Spanish only). We have partnerships all over the world, including in France, Spain and Japan, as well as in Canada and Latin America. Our BA Modern Languages with Management Studies graduates move on to a wide variety of careers, including in business and marketing, the language services and media industries, and teaching. We're immensely proud of our language graduate success stories!
