About the course

We apply mathematics to solve real-world economic issues. On this course, you鈥檒l get to understand the relationship between mathematics and economics by:- gaining strong foundational maths skills- developing an in-depth perspective on economic concepts.You鈥檒l learn from leading mathematicians and world-renowned economists, who are experts across both areas. Their research feeds into your teaching at every stage. Your core modules develop your knowledge of pure and applied mathematics. Options allow you to tailor your degree to your particular interests. Areas of study include:- differential equations- mathematical modelling- probability models- behavioural economics- shaping global policy.To develop your analytical and modelling skills, you鈥檒l use industry-standard software such as MATLAB, Python and R.There鈥檚 a focus on employability. You鈥檒l gain skills that are widely applicable, and will enable you to succeed in the world of business and economics. You鈥檒l have a careers coach and opportunities to engage with potential employers.


Accreditation

This programme will meet the educational requirements of the Chartered Mathematician designation, awarded by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, when it is followed by subsequent training and experience in employment to obtain equivalent competences to those specified by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for taught masters degrees.


MMath or BSc?

We also offer this course as a four-year MMath.
