Course summary
Graduate keen to pursue a career in law? Aberdeen offers the exclusive opportunity of a highly-ranked two-year LLB programme for graduates in other subjects with a good honours degree. You will gain all the benefits of our trademark breadth, depth, choice and quality at Aberdeen Law School –
ranked Top 100 in the World for Law (Times Higher Education World University Subject Ranking 2022)and as one of the t
op 10 universities in the UK for Law by the Times & Sunday Times Good University ´óÏó´«Ã½ 2024.If you are an aspiring lawyer with a good undergraduate degree in a subject other than law, the University of Aberdeen provides a route to qualifying without any compromise on quality. Our LLB Accelerated Law programme can lead you towards a career in the legal profession in just two years. Numbers are limited and this is a very highly sought programme.Law at Aberdeen looks at the historical, social, political and economic forces that influence our legal systems and govern our societies. You will learn to think like a lawyer rather than just 'learn' law.A major factor in our quality is the calibre and enthusiasm of our staff, testing your mental agility with complex, realistic legal scenarios as you get to grips with criminal, public and private law, legal systems, contracts, human rights and explore family law, the law of property and legal aspects of the EU.You will also have lots of opportunity to hone your developing legal skills in student-led initiatives such as mock legal debating, our highly active Law Society, the students’ journal in which your work may be published and our community law clinic – the Aberdeen Law Project. You will graduate with the knowledge and strong intellectual skills to pursue a career in the wide variety of legal professions. In addition, more than a third of Aberdeen law graduates choose to use their law degree as a passport for entry into a wide range of careers including business, media, finance and banking, teaching, governmental bodies and departments and the police force.
Graduateswishing to apply for an LLB must apply for the 2-year LLB Accelerated degree –
