Course summary

This course is designed to prepare you for studying our BA (Hons) Human Resource Management degree. You'll develop your study skills including academic writing and personal and professional development to start you off in the best possible way for your degree. You will learn more about business in a global and national context, and approaches to leading and managing in organisations. The Foundation Year also gives you the ability to the to develop your analytical skills and learn how to incorporate data to add real value to achieve organisational objectives. Once youve passed, youll be ready to start your degree course. That means your degree will take four years, or five years if it includes a work placement or year studying abroad.

Career prospects

Once you complete your degree, youll be ready for roles in recruitment, training, organisational behaviour and more. Youll also have the skills to work in management or continue to further study.

We focus on helping you develop the skills to work across a range of organisations around the world, whether you specialise in one area, or work across the discipline.

HR professionals are employed in a wide variety of sectors, including:

banking and finance

retail

hospitality, tourism and events

public sector organisations such as government departments, councils, hospitals and the police.

Many of our graduates go into training schemes with international companies like IBM, McDonalds, or GE Healthcare. Some have chosen to develop their careers abroad 鈥� in Europe, Asia, and South America.

Other graduates have chosen to continue their HR studies at postgraduate level to become CIPD Chartered HR Managers.
