Course summary

The unique Global Financial Journalism MA programme aims to equip you with all the skills necessary for a high-flying career as a journalist, as well as specialist skills which are in high demand from international news organisations. You will gain a global outlook on business, finance and the economy from leading industry figures. You will develop skills as a multimedia journalist by telling stories about business, finance and the economy. We will give you the professional skills and knowledge needed to work in fast-paced multimedia newsrooms around the world. Studying the financial sector in London will give you a unique insight into global business, while funded study trips - usually to New York and Shanghai, will help you get to grips with global economics and stock markets such as the Hang Seng Index and Wall Street.

Who is this course for?
If you want to make a difference in the world of journalism, the MA Global Financial Journalism is for you.

The course will equip you for a varied career, from breaking important stories on global finance and writing about consumer affairs to covering some of the largest companies and financial markets and conducting in-depth investigations.

You may have no background in finance but wish to specialise and discover great stories. Or you may have a finance or economics background and want to learn much more about journalism.

As well as developing skills in reporting and writing for digital and print publications, you will gain experience in producing journalism for TV and handling data stories.
Career:
Our Global Financial Journalism MA graduates are highly sought after by some of the best-known news organisations in the UK and beyond. Some also go on to work in communication roles for governments and financial institutions.

You will graduate with the ability to undertake in-depth research, find stories and produce extensive reports on business, industry and major financial bodies across the world.

Three quarters of our graduates stay to work in London, while others relocate to financial centres like New York, Hong Kong, Mumbai, and Singapore.

We encourage all our journalism student to gain journalism experience during their studies. Professional experience is an important step in developing a career in journalism and it helps students by put their learning into practice and make contacts in the industry.
