Course summary

Our DM in Genetics look at the causes of genetic disease. We explore genetic disease at the molecular and cellular level and its treatment.

Overview

Our research areas include:

  • genetic medicine
  • developmental genetics
  • neuromuscular and neurological genetics
  • mitochondrial genetics
  • cardiovascular genetics

You'll be a member of a thriving research community. The Institute is in Newcastle鈥檚 Life Science Centre.

You'll work alongside many research, clinical and educational organisations. This includes the Northern Genetics Service.

An MD is a doctorate or doctoral award. It combines your research findings with clinical practice. To complete the MD you will produce a substantial piece of work (80,000 鈥� 100,000 words) in the form of a?supervised thesis. For professionally qualified doctors, an?MD (Doctor of Medicine)?is?awarded.?
