Course summary

Intro

Our Early Years Education course leads to a postgraduate certificate (PGCert) and Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS). It will equip you with the skills and knowledge to become a confident and competent teacher of children from birth to five.

Achieving EYTS means that you’ll be able to take on higher level and leadership roles to improve the experiences and life-chances of young children and provide them with the best start in life.

At Brighton you’ll train to teach with an Ofsted ‘outstanding’ provider and be educated by an expert team who have their own successful experience as early years’ practitioners.

You’ll gain practical experiences in other settings, including a school at Key Stage 1. We’ll make sure you are fully prepared and supported to make the most of your time on placement.

At university you’ll have access to over 30,000 specialist resources including books, DVDs, games and an online catalogue in our curriculum centre.

The course is part-time and designed for those already working in the early years sector. There are no fees to pay and we work in partnership with your current employer to provide training and support and offer your employer a £7,000 financial incentive to provide cover while you're at university and on placement.

Brighton is one of the UK's largest teacher training universities and has been educating teachers and leaders for over 100 years.
