- Intellectually stimulating programme with 75 planned days of placement.- Innovative exploration of real local and global issues in Early Childhood.- Engaging and experienced tutors with high levels of knowledge and expertise.- Employability focused to enable achievement of the sector-recognised Early Childhood Graduate Practitioner Competencies.On this dynamic course, you鈥檒l develop a critical understanding of childhood, babies, children and families from multi-disciplinary and global perspectives. Informed by the latest research and our Centre for Research in Early Childhood (REACH), you鈥檒l examine current debates and explore concepts such as play, development, ethics, wellbeing, social justice and leadership. Through 75 days of planned placement activity, you鈥檒l gain essential skills and knowledge of inclusive and collaborative practices to make a positive impact on children鈥檚 lives and shape your future career. You might also apply for our Certificate in Global Citizenship or opt for a study visit or international placement.


More about the Professional Placement Year

A Professional Placement Year (PPY), traditionally known as a sandwich year, is where you undertake a period of work with an external organisation for between 9-13 months. The placement occurs between your second and final years of undergraduate study. You can engage in multiple placements to make up the total time and are required to source the placement(s) yourself, with support from the Careers team. The PPY Bursary can make work experience more accessible, with students undertaking a PPY able to receive between 拢500 and 拢1,500 to be used towards placement costs such as travel, food, workwear or accommodation.
