Course summary

Civil engineers design and build major structures and provide the skills and expertise to design, build and maintain the country鈥檚 infrastructure.

This programme鈥檚 strengths lie in its synthesis of scientific enquiry, engineering design and creative problem solving to tackle the challenging and complex real-life problems encountered by professional civil engineers.

WHY STUDY CIVIL ENGINEERING?

  • You will take part in a week long residential, construction project, 'Constructionarium', where you will build scaled versions of iconic buildings using a range of construction materials
  • You will take part in the five week multi-disciplinary Interact project with Architecture and Quantity Surveyor students from Glasgow School of Art and Glasgow Caledonian University respectively
  • There are several engineering-focused student societies, including Glasgow University Civil Engineers (GUCE) and the Female Engineering Society (FemEng)

BENG (HONS)

Accredited CEng (Partial): This degree is accredited as:

1. fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).

2. partially satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng). A programme of accredited Further Learning will be required to complete the educational base for CEng.
