Why this course?
Business Analysis applies advanced analytical methods to business problems to help managers make better decisions while technology is at the heart of all modern business. Organisations need business graduates with expertise in business technology.
Business analysts have an excellent general awareness of how a business works. Theyre also able to apply advanced analytical methods to deal with specific management issues.
Our finance degree is unique in Scotland in terms of the range and depth of issues covered. Employers tell us that they particularly value the range of subject combinations available at Strathclyde, ensuring that our students have in-depth understanding of a second subject to complement their finance studies. A degree in finance will give you the skills for a career in financial services such as banking, investment management, pension fund management and insurance.
Assessment
The majority of classes involve a final unseen exam which is normally at the end of the semester. This is normally supplemented by one of more forms of individual and/or group coursework.
Careers
Business Analysis & Technology
The best-performing companies look for very high levels of problem-solving ability, numeracy, technology, business awareness and teamwork in their new employees.
Business Analysis & Technology delivers this to a much greater extent than many other courses in business and management.
A significant number of well-known companies specifically target graduates from Strathclyde Business School, and from the area of management science in particular.
Finance
Our Finance graduates go on to be financial analysts or investment managers with a range of financial institutions like merchant banks, pension funds, insurance companies and stockbrokers.
Well known organisations who look for our Finance graduates include Blackrock, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and PricewaterhouseCoopers, The National Australia Group and Morgan Stanley.
The course is also useful if you're considering a more general business career, while a number of our graduates also pursue careers with accountancy firms and further study for professional accounting qualifications.
