Course summary

This Accounting, Finance and Economics Foundation Year will provide you with an understanding of the wider financial world, applying this knowledge to real world examples.

Over the course of the year, you will be challenged to analyse and interpret financial data, tackle real life organisational issues and build the fundamental skills required in industry. You will conduct a collaborative research project to enhance your understanding further of the contemporary issues in accounting, finance and economics. You will develop the academic skills and business awareness to begin applying basic business principles to solve real world problems.

What can I progress onto after my foundation year?

Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, you can automatically progress onto the following undergraduate degrees:

Accounting BSc (Hons)

Finance and Investment Management BSc (Hons)

Economics and Finance BSc (Hons)

BSc (Hons) Economics

Students will also have the option to progress onto other undergraduate business courses and you can also check out all of our other Accounting and Finance Courses and find that one that suits you.

How does this foundation course help with employability?

At Newcastle Business School, we have excellent links with regional, mid-tier and 鈥榖ig four accounting firms, as well as with key national financial organisations, enabling our students to experience what it is like to work in accounting and finance.

Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, you will be positioned to automatically progress onto level 4 study. Your progression course will then build upon the skills gained throughout the yearlong foundation course, preparing you for future employment in the financial world.
